New party theme – nautical/pirate

This is a theme that my son Pipo picked for himself last year right after his race car birthday (here & here). He has already decided what the next one is going to be 🙂  I know that all pirate themed parties are mainly black and red but I wanted this one to be a mix of a nautical and pirate theme. With the blue & white stripes and the red it’s a perfect combination and gives plenty more styling ideas for the whole party.  can’t wait to start the preparations for that party but it’s still some time to go. In the meantime the printable set for customization is already available on etsy

The Fun Part One

The fun part about moving places is that you get to change and decorate everything all over. And while waiting for our container to arrive I’m preparing our new place for the overflow of our stuff. My main priority – Pipo’s room. Over the weekend I have painted his room white (the wall here were in mocca colour) and believe me it was a challenge. But that’s luckily done! I have ordered the stripy wallpaper for one one wall, that I’m so happy about.  And below showing you my ideas/inspiration for his room. It’s still within the blue/red/white/pirate/nautical style as his previous room but it’s great that I can implement some changes.

Wishing you all a great week ahead and can’t wait to catch up with all the fantastic blogs out there.

Just love the Captain Sharky styled room – genius!

Let’s go nautical

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Here in Singapore it’s been raining with thunders since morning. So I thought of how great it’d be to have a bit of sea sun and sand feeling now. I love the nautical theme for boys’ room from Pottery Barn, it makes you feel like summer at the seaside all year long. I have ordered some items to my son’s room and will be happy to share it with you once it’s in his room.

The Sailorman

Finally I’m ready to show you some photos from the birthday party we had for Pipo the Sailorman. Choosing the theme this year was easy, Phillip is old enough to say what he wanted, so there it is. His wish was for a choco boat cake, and there you have it! A friend of mine Stephanie of INACAKES did a fantastic job with the ideal cake. It was chocolate, delicious and most important it was a sailboat!

Nautical inspirations in boys room

The best place to express fascination with the sea and the nautical style is kids’ room. I have been collecting ideas (Dutch Boy, The Inspired Room, White Company) then the decor items and gradually creating my own ahoy style (more pictures to come).

To add some natural beachy feel to the style all you need is some seashells, piece of wood washed by the sea, fishing net. The sea is the limit in this case 🙂
